Book Review: The Gift That I Can Give Board Book

I got this version of the board book for some toddlers who are very tough on their books in our family!

As I mentioned, in my previous post...

"The Gift That I Can Give is a beautifully illustrated picture book! The story is about the gift inside us that we can share with the world. This book has very strong Christian morals/values in the story itself.

"All God asks me
As I grow, love, and live
Is that I show others
The Gift I can give.
Then He'll help me find ways
To give it away
as He lives in my heart,
Every moment, every day."

This is a great way to share Jesus with your little girl. She'll love it. I would recommend this book for preschoolers. I like that it's a hard cover book, and the pages are nice and thick. However, this would not stand the test of time of a few toddlers I know. My favorite part is the illustration. "

For those with toddlers, the board book is the better option. It's padded cover and the sturdy pages will hopefully be able to endure the "loving" hands of a 2 year old. This is an 8x8" book. Perfect for toddlers.

Book Review: When Do I Love You?

This book is perfect for my preschooler who tends to always ask me if I love her sibling more... it reinforces how much I love her and how nothing can stop that love.

This board book includes rhymes for each animal and while they are loved.

"When do I love you, little duck?
When we're riding in the truck!

No matter how bumpy the road might be,
We'll bounce there together, just you and me..."

We love the animals! Ducks, bears, lizards, kittens, mice, moose, and many more! This is great for babies and preschoolers. The illustrations look like colored pencil drawings and coloring. It's a quick enough bedtime story, which is always a plus in my book!

Book Review: The Cow Said Neigh! Board Book

Even though I already had a copy of the  The Cow Said Neigh! Picture Book, I needed to order the  The Cow Said Neigh! Board Book for a couple toddlers who are really into chewing and destroying books. The Picture Book version wouldn't last 3 minutes in the hands of this specific toddler I have in mind. The Board Book is the same cute and funny story of the animals in the barnyard who wish to be a different animal, but it's got sturdy padded board book covers and sturdy board book pages. As I reviewed the story in the Picture Book version, we love this book! This board book is smaller in size and is perfect for young terrors... I mean toddlers.

Book Review: The Cow Said Neigh! Picture Book

Oh my! The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story is an adorable book about how each animal wishes to be a different farm animal! This book is funny and your little ones will get a kick out of the wrong sounds each animal makes. The illustrations are very nice. This specific version is the hard covered, big picture book version. It's good for preschoolers (approximately 10" x 10"). This is a quick read as well for bedtime!

"There once was a cow in a barn who could see
A horse in a field who ran wild and free.
"If I were a house, I could run free all day."
And the cow opened his mouth and let out a big...

NEIGH!"

This was fun to read, and I am sure we'll be reading it many more times for bedtime!

Book Review: How do you say Good Night?

For all you safari animal lovers, this is an adorable bedtime book with our favorite safari animals! In How do you say Good Night?, Zoey the zebra visits lions, warthogs,  elephants, ostriches, monkeys and more, to find out how each says good night. With silly rhymes of how each animal gets ready for bed and says good night, my kiddos love the book. We like identifying all the animals. Granted, this board book is a little bit longer than our normal bedtime books. I would recommend this book for older 2's and older.

Book Review: Good Bless You and Good Night

God Bless You and Good night by Hannah C Hall might not be most interesting bedtime story, but your little ones will LOVE the touch and feel!! My preschool and toddler both love the furry animals! Polar Bear, Otter, Kangaroo, Hedge Hog, and many more, they all have wonderful coats!! This is a great book to introduce your little ones to new animals and various textures! I would recommend this book for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Book Review: My Christmas ABCs

We loved the My Christmas ABCs! The textured pages (glitter!), the illustrations, and working through the ABCs is the perfect stocking stuffer for your preschooler/toddler! The board book is a sturdy board book. Even though it's not even Halloween yet, the kids can't get enough of this Christmas book!

Book Review: Night Night, Sleepytown

Another Amy Parker book we added to our collection. Night Night, SleepTown has all the cute illustrations that we've love. It goes through many of the characters in Sleepytown, like the mayor, the construction workers, teachers, saying goodnight to each of them. Like all of the other Night Night books, this is a solid boardbook with padded covers. It's not the most simulating read, but it's quick and the kids like like. It's good for toddlers and preschoolers.

Book Review: Candy Apple Blessings

Candy Apple Blessings is a great book to go over all the wonderful things we are grateful for in the fall! I love that this book highlights all of our favorite fall festivities. The board book itself doesn't feel as sturdy as some of our other padded board books, but the illustrations and which bedtime story make up for that. I would say, this is a great book for prek and toddlers. They'll love all the pictures! So cute.

Book Review: Big Trucks Getting the Job Done Together

Big Trucks Getting the Job Done Together is a board book that has great textures and simple story about the different jobs the trucks have on a construction site. The kids loved the rubbery wheels, the reflective windows, the scratchy dirt, and more! The story isn't amazing, but my kids seemed to enjoy it. Both boys and girls will like this fun Touch and Feel book. The illustrations are adorable. My son is obsessed with trucks and has been carrying the book around since we got it.

Book Review: ICB Golden Princess Sparkle Bible

The ICB Golden Princess Sparkle Bible is a bright hard covered Bible. The print in the book is just a basic format. There are some really pretty illustrations, but nothing stands out about this Bible. I like the ICB translation, but unfortunately, it's above the reading level for the little girls I was hoping to give this to. I do like that there are little footnotes for additional definitions for some names and provides a little bit of context. However, overall, I was not impressed with this Bible.

Book Review: The Beginner's Bible Bedtime Collection

Adding another to our college of The Beginner's Bibles. The Bedtime Collection is about a quarter of the size of the original, and includes a prayer at the end of each story. The pages are vibrant and glossy. The cover is a padded boardbook type cover. The 20 stories are mostly the same as the original Beginner's Bible. The thing I like about this is the size. It's much better for your small toddler hands. The original is a bit bulky. I think this is a great way to introduce your little ones to quiet times before bed. And let's be honest. Who doesn't like GLOW IN THE DARK?!  This is a great gift for your the little ones in your life!

Book Review: Go to Sleep, Sheep!

If you've ever had to put a toddler to bed, you'll be able to relate 100% to the mama sheep in Go to Sleep, Sheep!  This book made my preschooler and me laugh because it really does sound so much like my little ones when it's bed time!

"But we're not tired!"
"I'm still hungry!"
"I'm thirsty!"

We loved the cute cutout of the book, the adorable illustration and the fun story of basically our bedtime routine! This is a great bedtime book for toddlers and preschoolers. If you have a kiddo who goes to bed without these excuses, you may want to skip this book, so you don't give them any ideas! However, if you do get these excuses, it's a fun bedtime book. I better go put my little sheep to bed now!

Book Review: Dinner for Dinos

If your little one loves dinos as much as mine, they'll love this adorable board book, Dinner For Dinos by Ben Whitehouse. This is a very well made boardbook with padded covers and solid pages. The illustrations are so adorable. I like that it promotes healthy eating and good manners. This is perfect for my little guy. I would recommend this book for all dino loving toddlers and preschoolers. The best part is, it's a super quick read for bedtime!

Book Review: I Prayed For You

I Prayed For You  by Jean Fischer is the prefect book for a mom to be! It'll encourage the mom to be to pray for all the wonderful things to come with her new baby. This book is a nice hard covered book with beautiful illustrations. The book goes through each baby stage and has a little prayer for it.

The book starts off with:
Before you were born, I asked God for something special, I asked Him for you.

"Dear loving Father in heaven above, send a sweet baby for Mama to love."

To first first steps, first soccer game, to first day in school... this will make you tear up as you pray along with your book for your little one. This will be a great reminder for you to pray as a mom. My preschooler loved the pictures as well.

Book Review: Night Night Jungle

We were excited to add the Night Night Jungle by Amy Parker to our Night Night collection! Like all the other Night Night books, this has really adorable illustrations and we loved identifying the jungle animals. I personally loved the sloth! The story itself isn't wonderful, but your preschooler will most likely not mind since the pictures are entertaining enough. As with all the other Night Night books, this has a nice puffy board book cover, and the pages are solid board book material. I would recommend this book for babies and preschoolers.

Book Review: I Can Only Imagine

Since "I Can Only Imagine" is one of my favorite songs, I had to get the I Can Only Imagine: A Friendship with Jesus Now and Forever by Bart Millard of MercyMe. This book is a nice hard covered book. The pages are good quality. The size is perfect for a preschooler. The story is basically talking about all the favorite things the little boy enjoys and asking if God would love them too. It encourages a relationship with Jesus now as well as looking forward to what wonderful things heaven will entail. I love that this book talks about pets in heaven. I would recommend this book for preschoolers and for parents who really like the song!

Book Review: Jesus Calling

This Jesus Calling adult coloring book is a absolutely beautiful. I got it as a gift for my sister, who's really into drawing and coloring. One thing I really liked about this specific book the quality of the pages! The pages are nice and thick. You can use various coloring mediums on the pages. The pictures, inspirational sayings and patterns are great for some coloring therapy! I recommend this coloring book for all adults who enjoy crafting, and doodling!

Book Review: Jesus Loves the World

I can't help it... I just love the Beginner's Bible series, and so do my little ones. The Jesus Loves the World is the story of Jesus, his ministry, his death, and his resurrection. I didn't realize when I first requested this book that it would be the Easter story... but it's perfect for Easter. Unlike many of the other Beginner Bible series, this one isn't the padded board book. It's the thinner type. The cut of the book is fun and as all the other series, the Jesus Loves the World has the classic illustration style. I am glad my preschoolers have this to add to their collection. I would definitely recommend adding this to your child's Easter basket.

Book Review: In the Middle of the Mess

I recently started reading In the Middle of the Mess by Sheila Walsh. This book is not for the faint of heart. The opening chapter of the book is a letter from Sheila to her dad, it's full of emotions and darkness. For those who don't know, Sheila Walsh has battled with depression and thoughts of suicide for her entire life. She is very open about her struggles but also gives hope in knowing the goodness of God. I started this post by saying "I recently started reading...". This book at this time in my life is a little bit too intense on the emotional side. I was hoping for something just encouraging, but this book is much more than that. It was too sad for me and I struggled to read it. It may help other people who are struggling with some difficult situations in their life, but it wasn't the right book for me.

Book Review: With Love from Me to You

With Love from Me to You came just in time for Valentine's day. The polar bear delivers valentines to all her little friends by sharing how we can love and kindness to those around us. The boardbook has adorable illustrations and is a great size for preschools.  It's a quick read for bedtime.
